Passivhaus
Design & Building

Passivhaus is a performance-based building standard designed to dramatically reduce the energy required to heat and cool your home.

Through intelligent design, airtight construction, and high-performance materials, it delivers consistent comfort year-round.

At Zanetto Builders, we design and construct Passivhaus homes tailored to Tasmania’s climate, combining architectural precision with measurable performance.

What is Passivhaus?

Passivhaus (Passive House) is a globally recognised building standard focused on energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and long-term comfort.

Rather than relying on traditional heating and cooling, a Passivhaus is designed so the building itself does the work. Through insulation, being airtight, high-performance windows, and ventilation, it maintains a stable indoor climate with minimal energy input.

Originally developed in Germany, the standard is now applied worldwide — including in Tasmania’s climate.

At Zanetto Builders, every home is performance-modelled to suit its site, ensuring it performs exactly as intended.

Energy Performance
& Running Costs

A well-built Passivhaus can reduce heating and cooling energy demand by up to 80–90%.

  • Lower power bills

  • Reduced exposure to energy price increases

  • More predictable running costs

This is performance that continues long after the build is complete.
