An award-winning medium-density pair in Launceston — two homes resolved as one considered whole.
The brief
The brief was two dwellings on one site that felt designed, not doubled — architecture and amenity that stood up as a pair, with no compromise to either home. Medium-density projects live or die on exactly this: whether each dwelling still feels like a custom home once it shares a site, or whether one becomes the lesser copy of the other.
The build
Designed with Loop Architecture and photographed by Tassie Visuals, The Twins brought the detailing and discipline of a single custom home to a medium-density build — the same standard of finish carried across two dwellings at once, coordinated so the pair reads as one piece of architecture rather than a home and its duplicate.
The result
The judges agreed — twice. The Twins won Master Builders Tasmania — Medium Density Construction, 2–5 Dwellings (2021), and — alongside Little Frankland — HIA Tasmania’s Townhouse / Villa of the Year (2022). Two awards bodies across two years, reaching the same verdict on the same pair. And the 2021 win came in the same Master Builders Tasmania awards year that recognised The HQ, the director’s own first home — two state awards in a single year, early in the company’s story.
