Why do bathrooms fail in Tasmania’s climate?
Moisture, mostly. Tasmania is cold and damp for a good part of the year, and the bathroom is where a home’s moisture concentrates. Warm steam meets cold surfaces, condensation forms, and if the waterproofing, the falls or the ventilation are wrong, the damage starts behind the tiles — where nobody sees it until it’s expensive.
So we build the unseen layers first and hardest. Waterproofing detailed and checked before a single tile goes on. Falls that actually drain. Extraction sized for a Tasmanian winter, not a mainland one. It’s the same thinking that runs through our healthy homes work: control the moisture and the room gets to last.
Then the visible work — stone, joinery, tiling and setout — gets the same discipline. Grout lines land where they should. Edges align. The room reads as one design, not a collection of parts.
Which awards have your bathrooms actually won?
The ones judged on exactly this. The Curve won HIA Tasmania’s Bathroom of the Year and Bathroom of the Year over $50,000 in 2025. Villa Donini won HIA Tasmania’s Bathroom of the Year over $30,000 in 2024, and Master Builders Tasmania’s Bathroom Project award the same year. The full list is on our awards page, and the rooms themselves are in our bathroom portfolio — judge them for yourself.
We don’t list those to boast. A bathroom is the hardest room in a house to get right, and independent judging is the closest thing this industry has to proof.
What does a bathroom renovation cost in Tasmania?
It depends on the room, which is why we won’t give you a square-metre guess. Every bathroom we price is costed from its actual design and selections, using the same estimating engine behind our 48-hour feasibility: more than 90 cost categories, labour back-costed from over $20 million of completed Tasmanian homes, and two quotes from every subcontract trade. Our margin is a 10% target net profit, published in plain English on our pricing page, and the whole method is explained in The Perfect Estimate.
If the bathroom is one part of a larger job, our home renovations service covers how we stage the rest of the house around it. Either way, the standard is the same one that wins the awards — because in a wet room, the standard is the product.
