An East Coast Forever Home at Falmouth — designed and delivered for owners managing the whole build from Melbourne.
The brief
Building a new home on the East Coast of Tasmania while living in Melbourne is, in the owners’ own words, a mammoth task. After researching potential builders for their architect — Dan at Maguire Devine — the owners shortlisted Zanetto Builders, an award-winning Launceston builder. The brief was a custom home that could be delivered remotely, without the owners on site each week, and without the distance costing them certainty on budget or quality.
The build
Designed with Maguire Devine Architects, Newave leaned on the open-book process and clear, constant communication that let interstate owners stay across every decision from afar — coastal detailing and considered planning included. The architects liaised directly with our team through the build, while regular updates from the builder on site kept the owners connected to progress week by week. Kyle worked tirelessly with the owners to bring the project within budget, guided by the philosophy the company is built on: trust, honesty, respect and clarity — with clients, architects, employees and tradespeople alike.
The result
The numbers behaved the way remote owners need them to. By the owners’ account, the final build cost came in very close to the quote, handover landed only about three weeks after the predicted date, and the defects list was handled professionally — all from a build managed across Bass Strait. Both owners have shared their experience below; one summed it up simply: if they could build again, they wouldn’t hesitate to use Zanetto Builders.
