An award-winning bathroom project at Waverley — judged HIA Tasmania’s Bathroom of the Year in 2025, a double win in a single awards season.
The brief
A bathroom conceived as the standout room of the home: stone, joinery, lighting and detailing resolved to competition standard. A bathroom at this level compresses most of the disciplines of a full custom build — waterproofing, setout, stonework, cabinetry, lighting — into a few exacting square metres, where a millimetre’s error has nowhere to hide.
The build
Designed with Preston Lane Architects and photographed by Tassie Visuals, The Curve brought precise waterproofing, stonework and joinery together in that small, unforgiving space — every trade’s work meeting every other trade’s work in full view. It’s the kind of room that gets judged twice: once by awards juries, and every day after by the people who live with it.
The result
The Curve won both HIA Tasmania — Bathroom of the Year (2025) and Bathroom of the Year > $50,000 (2025) — the category and the overall title in the same year. It also made it back-to-back for the team: the year before, our Villa Donini bathroom took HIA Tasmania’s Bathroom of the Year > $30,000 (2024) and Master Builders Tasmania’s Bathroom Project award (2024) — two consecutive years of Zanetto bathrooms at the top of the state’s awards. It came in the same 2025 HIA Tasmania season that named Zanetto Builders the state’s Professional Small Builder / Renovator. The owner’s verdict, shared below, is short and to the point: professional, excellent to work with, and very pleased with the final product.
