Villa Donini — Ensuite
The ensuite at Villa Donini shares its language with the award-winning main bathroom — the same stone, the same joinery discipline, the same restraint — at the smaller, more private scale an ensuite asks for.
Villa Donini’s interiors won HIA Tasmania’s Interior Cabinetry and Interior Design awards in 2024, alongside Bathroom of the Year over $30,000 and the Master Builders Tasmania Bathroom Project award. The ensuite is part of that body of work.
The brief
An ensuite that feels like a continuation of the home rather than a utility appended to a bedroom. Consistency of material and detail across both wet areas, without simply repeating the main bathroom at a smaller size.
The build
Small rooms are unforgiving. There is less wall to absorb a setout error, less floor to resolve a fall, and every junction sits within arm’s reach of someone standing still. Getting a compact wet area to feel generous is a matter of proportion and of removing visual noise — fewer material changes, longer uninterrupted runs, and services planned so nothing has to be worked around later.
The result
A quiet, cohesive room that belongs to the house. The consistency between the two wet areas is what makes the interior read as designed rather than decorated.
